Newton's work on infinite series was inspired by Simon Stevin's decimals.[9] Newton was also highly religious. He was an unorthodox Christian, and wrote more on Biblical hermeneutics and occult studies than on the subjects of science and mathematics. Newton secretly rejected Trinitarianism, fearing to be accused of refusing holy orders. He died on 20 March 1727.
